The Hofmann Keyway Milling Machine is a precision machine tool designed to be used for in-situ machining of keyways in shafts from 65mm diameter to 300mm diameter. Using a unique clamping method, the machine can be mounted at any position along the shaft and with the “vee block” base, you are guaranteed that the machine is always located parallel to the shaft. The machine has the ability to be indexed in both longitudinal and transverse directions, with a longitudinal traverse of 160mm and a transverse traverse of 20mm either side of the centre line of the shaft. The mounting plate is manufactured from the highest grade steel which is then hardened and tempered, the slides of the plates are then precision ground to give a great deal of rigidity along with a high degree of accuracy. The spindle is designed to accept a standard 16mm diameter shank milling cutter. Power for the machine is provided via a 240 volt electric variable speed motor. The motor has a 1.1Kw rating with a maximum speed of 1800rpm.
